Joan As Police Woman's debut album, Real Life, was a true musical treasure, one of those things you stumble upon almost accidentally and then end up loving for the rest of your life. It was elegant, poignant, sensual, and beautiful, and definitely one of my favorites. So I was very excited to hear Joan's follow-up album, To Survive, is being released on June 10th (although it's already up on iTunes today).
Well, I heard a leak of the new album, and I've got to tell you, I was less than impressed. Actually, BORED would be the correct word. It did nothing for me. The songs seem less inspired and not as fully-formed as Joan's first batch of songs. I'm definitely going to give it another listen or so to see if it sinks in more, but for now, I'm truly disappointed. Oh well. I've still got the first album to love.
I'm not even going to bother sharing any mp3s from the album since I honestly can't say I like any of the songs enough to post it. I wouldn't know which one to pick!

I haven't heard the new record yet, but did hear a song on Blog Fresh Radio. Was surprised how ordinary it seemed, if you know what I mean.
one of the best albums of the year. expecially Start of My Heart
