Still Recovering From the Spectacle

So, for those of you who don't know, this past Saturday, June 21st, I attended the amazing R.E.M. concert at Lakewood Amphitheatre in Atlanta! Safe to say it was one of the greatest concert experiences of my life. Not only did one of my favorite bands, The National, open for them, but Modest Mouse as well. And seeing as how it was their hometown show, I know you'll believe me when I tell you that R.E.M. rocked it to the limit! The lights, the songs, the people....everything just fell perfectly into place. It was definitely a night I'll remember forever! And yes, I am still recovering. (I'm sooooo tired, you guys....)

The National, of course, were amazing as ALWAYS. But one thing I was really impressed with was the T-shirts The National were selling at the show. If you didn't already know, The National have an incredible song entitled "Mr. November." At the show, they were selling T-shirts bearing the face of Barack Obama and "Mr. November" printed on it. Awesome enough on its own, yes. But during their set, National frontman Matt Berninger announced that all proceeds from the sale of that t-shirt go directly to Obama's campaign! Even better! My friend Lydia bought one, and I certainly would have bought one myself if I wasn't completely skint. Also, during R.E.M.'s set, Michael Stipe held up one of the Obama t-shirts and encouraged us all to purchase one. As soon as I find a picture of one or a link to purchase the shirt online, I will be sharing it with you all!

This should TOTALLY be Barack's campaign song...even with the profanity!

On another note, go out immediately and buy My Brightest Diamond's new album, A Thousand Shark's Teeth. TRUST ME! It's stunning. Buy it now! (More on that tomorrow, I promise!)
